Baggage irregularities

Delayed, damaged or disappeared

Your suitcase has been damaged? Or did it not arrive? We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused by this situation. We will of course do everything in order to deliver your baggage to you as quickly as possible. In fact in 96 per cent of cases of incorrectly routed baggage we are able to deliver it within a few days. In exceptional cases this can however unfortunately take up to five days. In this case please send us a written notification.

Baggage or items are delayed or lost

Your baggage wasn’t on the baggage conveyor belt?

Please report directly after your arrival to the Lost & Found counter at the airport and provide our staff with your original baggage claim tag. You will then be given a reference number, with which you can check the status of your baggage. Our staff will of course answer your questions and inform you of the procedure.

Your baggage isn’t complete?

Please report items missing from your baggage immediately after your arrival to the Lost & Found counter at the airport and provide our staff with your original baggage claim tag. Please note that the corresponding baggage identification tag must be attached to the item of baggage. Our staff will then give you a reference number for the further processing of your claim.

Your baggage or items have not been found after five days of intensive searching?

In order to extend our inquiries, we require further details from you. Please complete the following form and send it to the given address.

Check the status of your baggage online

For flights with ST flight numbers
You can also check the status of your baggage online. Simply enter the case file number into the form. This consists of the reference number of the PIR Property Irregularity Report damage report as well as the code of the airport and of the airline.

Here is an example: BREST12345. BRE stands for the departure airport, ST stands for the airline and 12345 is the reference number.

Damaged baggage

Please report damage immediately after your arrival at the Lost & Found counter at the airport. Please provide our staff with your original baggage claim tag. Please note that the corresponding baggage identification tag must be attached to the item of baggage. Our staff will then give you a reference number and will be happy to answer any of your questions.

Do you want to report damage after leaving the airport?
If you only notice damage to your suitcase when back home or at your hotel, send our Lost & Found department a written notification within 7 days after your flight. Please note that Germania is no longer liable after this time. Please provide suitable verification that damage has occurred during the flight and not after the baggage reclaim.

If your baggage arrives late, you have 21 days in which to report any damage. Please note that Germania is otherwise no longer liable.

Further information on claiming for damage can be found in our information sheet on damaged baggage.

Items forgotten on board

Did you leave something on your seat?
Please contact the baggage tracing at your arrival airport. Please bear in mind that you are generally responsible for your hand baggage. We are therefore unable to replace any forgotten items. We will of course do everything possible to find your belongings again.

We strongly recommend that you insure your baggage.
