Glattbrugg, October 25, 2018 – Germania has just released its flight schedule for summer 2019 and has started ticket sales. The airline has added two new destinations to its portfolio: Tirana, the capital of Albania, complementing Germania’s offerings to cities in southern Europe, and Calvi on the French island of Corsica. Non-stop flights from Zurich to Tirana are offered twice weekly. Albania is ideal for a relaxing vacation on beautiful beaches and is considered a hot spot for hikers, bikers and other fans of action-filled holidays. The new Mediterranean island on Germania’s radar is Corsica. Flights to Calvi depart once a week. The city is perfect for an unforgettable stay at the beach or in the wilderness. “With these two new destinations we can offer our passengers an even broader assortment of summer destinations. From relaxing at the beach to outdoor sports to exploring the surroundings, our destinations cater to all travelers’ needs,” says Tobias Somandin, CEO of Germania Flug AG. Funchal, the capital of the Portuguese island of Madeira, has been put on the summer schedule for the first time. Madeira, or the Island of Flowers, is known for being down to earth and the perfect destination for all those who love to be active in the great outdoors.
Increased frequency of flights on current routes
In addition to the two new destinations, Germania has increased the frequency of flights on some of its existing routes. In summer 2019, planes for Mallorca depart 11 times a week (including twice each on Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and five times a week to Ibiza, two more than before. In addition, Germania has added one flight per week each to Larnaka, the island of Corfu, and Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt. After including Antalya in southern Turkey in its network of routes again in August 2018, the airline will offer flights to this destination throughout the summer season of 2019.
Including the flights recently made available for booking, in summer 2019 Germania will offer a total of up to 50 weekly connections from Zurich to 20 destinations in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. This increase reflects the airline’s continuous growth and a 16 percent augmentation in flight frequency from the 2018 summer season. To accommodate this development, Germania will operate a total of five aircraft from Zurich in summer 2019.
