Safe and relaxed travels with Germania

Your well-being is our greatest priority. If you are travelling with a walking frame, wheelchair or personal assistance, we will do everything we can to assist you. Please also consider the following tips so that you can travel comfortably and without worries.


Five tips on travel and health

1. Seek medical advice before your journey

If you suffer from an illness or a physical impairment or are on medication, we recommend talking to your doctor about your travel plans. Risks should also be avoided during pregnancy. Seek medical advice to avoid health risks for you and your child.

2. Take your medication with you on board

You may of course bring medication that you need during the flight on board with you. Please however take note of our rules on hand baggage and the security regulations on liquids in hand baggage.

3. Take advantage of our complimentary assistance  

It goes without saying that we not only assist customers with restricted mobility at the airport, but also during the flight. Please let us know at least 48 hours before departure how we can help you.

4. Book your special medical baggage in advance

Whether wheelchair, walking frame or oxygen machine – of course we will transport your special medical baggage for you. This service is free of charge for items up to 10 kg. We do however ask you to book this at least 48 hours before departure and to carry a medical certificate with you.

5. Get informed about allergies

Allergies can be the result of various causes, thus we cannot guarantee that the cabins are free of allergenic substances like dog and cat hair or of traces of peanuts.

Please also note that due to official regulations during travels to Madeira "NONFLAMMABLE AIRCRAFT INSECTICIDE D-PHENOTHRINE" is sprayed into the cabins while passengers are present. Furthermore, other passengers may bring allergenic substances on board.

Please consult your doctor to take sufficient account of the degree of your allergy prior to your travels. On our flights we cannot provide special meals for people suffering from allergies.

Special medical baggage

Wheelchair, medication or oxygen flasks

Please book the carriage of medical aids at least 48 hours before departure. This is to ensure we have sufficient time to organise everything for your journey.
